John Weiss, CEO of Anything Possible Brands (APB) and a former executive with Pure Fishing, is to retire in September of this year.
Weiss joined Anything Possible, the company behind the Proficiency, KidCasters and Perfection Lures brands, as CEO in 2021. He had a multi-year plan to build an organisation to support the Missouri firm’s rapid growth and is credited with helping transform the entrepreneurial business into a recognised player in the trade.
The respect with which he is held in the industry helped him recruit experienced figures like VP of Sales Terry Pedersen, previously with Lew’s and Daiwa, and COO John Morlan, formerly at Johnson Outdoors, Pure Fishing and Vista Outdoors.
Weiss has been in the industry for 25 years. He was Executive VP of Global Brands at Pure Fishing, after which he became President of Rhythm Inc., which traded as Cadence Fishing, a brand focused on attracting young people to the sport.
“I’m proud of the APB team and its dedication to the mission of making fishing accessible and enjoyable for anglers of all ages and skill levels,” said Weiss. “Together we have developed a culture and process to supply our valued retail partners with innovative products and outstanding customer service.”
Founded in 2012, Anything Possible was recapitalised by Promus Equity Partners in December 2020.
“Promus is grateful for John’s decades of experience in the fishing industry,” said Sarah Wuellner, a partner at Promus Holdings. “He has been instrumental in advancing a fast-growing company into a leading provider of tackle for adults and youth.”
