Huk owner recruits two Columbia execs as CEO and Senior VP


Marolina Outdoor, the parent company of fishing apparel brand Huk, has attracted two long-serving Columbia Sportswear executives to fill top positions.

Dean Rurak (pictured) is Marolina’s new CEO, while Bill Ferreira becomes Senior VP of Sales and Merchandising.

Rurak, who spent more than 20 years at Columbia, most recently as Senior VP and Chief Product Officer, succeeds Edwin Lewis, who has filled the role since Huk was acquired in 2018 and who will continue as company chairman.

“Dean has an extensive knowledge of all our product categories and a long track record working with our key strategic partners,” said Lewis. “He will be an incredible asset as we build out Huk’s omni-channel strategy.”

Rurak said the company, which also owns the Nomad Outdoor Hunting brand, would continue to innovate products in new and diverse ways while connecting with the consumer. “This will accelerate and unlock future growth opportunities for both our brands,” he added.

Ferreira spent 18 years at Columbia, working in sourcing, planning, manufacturing and merchandising. His most recent role was Director of Merchandising for Columbia’s Performance Fishing Gear brand.

Both men started their new roles on May 1st.
