Hardy celebrates coveted consumer fly rod award

Hardy has won the coveted Consumer’s Choice Award for the best freshwater fly rod at the 2023 Fly Fishing Show.

The Fly Fishing Show tours the US every winter with a six-event programme, and visitors at each one have the opportunity to vote for new products in 38 fly categories.

And it was the Hardy Aydon single-handed rod that got the largest share of the votes in one of the most fiercely-contested categories.

“For over 150 years, Hardy has been handcrafting innovative fly gear and we were excited to enter the Aydon in the freshwater category this year,” said Jim Murphy (pictured), Director of Fly Fishing for Hardy.

“We are proud of the craftsmanship and many hours of on-water testing that went into creating the Aydon and are happy that the angling community recognises the hard work and dedication behind this family of rods.”

The Aydon single-handed rod is available in lengths from seven to ten feet and weights from three through eight. It is made from SINTREX material, invented by Hardy in Scotland.

The Aydon series also includes switch, travel and double-handed models.
