UK retailer launches participation campaign with Shakespeare

Share

UK retailer Go Outdoors, owner of the Fishing Republic chain, is partnering with Shakespeare to provide a range of fishing kits to help beginners learn how to fish.

The initiative is part of a wider campaign being launched aimed at breaking down hurdles that discourage people from fishing for the first time.

The beginner kits developed by Shakespeare will cover coarse, predator and sea fishing and will come with videos that help newcomers use the tackle and advise on where to go fishing. The campaign is being launched at the Get Hooked on Fishing venue at Northala Fields in Ealing, West London, and will be attended by former England and Arsenal goalkeeper and Fishing Republic brand ambassador David Seaman (pictured). It is also supported by the Angling Trust.

“We’re incredibly passionate about fishing and want everyone to enjoy it, whether they are an angling expert or beginner,” said Go Outdoors CEO Lee Bagnall. “We believe that partnering with Shakespeare will help introduce a new generation to fishing.”

Dave McCartney, EMEA Senior Marketing Manager for Shakespeare’s parent company, Pure Fishing, said: “The two biggest barriers for those wanting to get into fishing are not knowing where to go and not knowing what to use. We’re aiming to help people overcome those barriers.

“The Shakespeare kits have been designed to make it simple and affordable for people to catch their first fish. The packaging will feature QR codes directing people to excellent resources such as a map of where to fish and where find angling coaches around the country, guides to setting up their tackle and instructional video content created exclusively for this campaign.”
