Fishing sales flourish for Australia’s BCF

Share

Continued strength in its fishing category helped Australia’s leading supplier of outdoor sports equipment deliver a record-breaking first half of the year performance.

The Super Retail Group’s BCF reported a sales increase of 7% to AU$488 driven by the continued strength of its fishing category which was supported by the introduction of new brands and regional ranges.

BCF’s performance was also aided by the camping category and the contribution from new stores plus he expanded superstore in Townsville, Queensland, which opened in October last year.

During the first half of its financial year, BCF opened four new stores and closed one. At the end of the period it traded from 150 stores across Australia.

Super Retail Group’s total sales for the period were up 15% to $1.9 billion, driven by strong Black Friday and Christmas peak trading performances that saw an 11% rise in like-for-like sales growth.

Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Anthony Heraghty said: “We are pleased to report a net profit before tax at the top end of the previously announced guidance range following a record first half sales. Once again, I would like to thank our team members whose tireless efforts and passion in serving our loyal customers have been instrumental in achieving this outcome.”
