Line maker uses EFTTEX to implement growth plan

Turkish fishing line maker Mercan is preparing a new strategic plan to expand its presence in the European marketplace.
And it believes that EFTTEX is the way to implement its first steps in the process by introducing itself and its new products to visitors to the show in Budapest in June. Mercan Export Manager Geoffrey Masse told Angling International: “We still believe strongly in face-to-face meetings and the show should solidify some new business relationships.”
Masse added that Mercan – a former award-winner at EFTTEX – has attended the show since the early 2010s. “Since then we have invested a lot of time and energy in the modernisation and extension of our production facilities. EFTTEX helped us to improve our standards by putting us amongst high quality competitors and customers.
“During our time at the show we have found long-term partners in Europe, America and the Middle East and even improved our brand credibility at home.
“For us, EFTTEX is the meeting place for the European angling market. It is a way to meet many suppliers, customers and potential customers. Our main target is to make ourselves aware of the state of the industry. It is the best source of market analysis and networking.
“We have missed the adrenaline and opportunity to show ourselves on the biggest stage in our business. It always fills us with pride to see our name there.
“During the pandemic we had to focus on our domestic market, but now we are happy to put the emphasis on international trade again.”
Launching new products is also an important part of Mercan’s show strategy. Masse said: “We will be focusing on our PE Braid lines as we have been investing in new top quality machines from European suppliers as well as much more diverse raw material providers.
“Our most renowned products are the X8 Braid, but we will be presenting X9 and X12. We are working on new prototype fishing lines and hope to be able to show some samples this year.”
