Bass Pro Shops founder confirms work on new $20m superstore

Share

Work has started on a new $20 million Bass Pro Outdoor World superstore. Located in Grand Prairie, Texas, the 100,000 square-foot building is being built to a ‘unique completely custom design’.

It will be the fifth Bass Pro destination retail store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and will take more than a year to construct, with completion estimated in Spring 2024. It is expected to provide more than 100 jobs.

The destination store will sell Bass Pro, Cabela’s and TRACKER products, along with popular national brands including North Face, Columbia, Under Armour and more. It will host demonstrations and activities, such as ‘Gone Fishing’, an annual event that introduce families to the sport.

“The signature creativity and attention to detail are hallmarks of every experience from Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris,” said the company.

Morris said: “We have come to know the incredibly passionate sportsmen and women in Texas who love the outdoors as much as we do. We’re excited to serve these customers while showcasing our iconic outdoor brands.”

Among the biggest fishing tackle retailers in the US, Bass Pro added to its reach when it acquired Cabela’s in 2017. Today it has 200 stores.
