Former Walmart man Phillip Johnson has joined the Bass Anglers’ Sportfishing Society (B.A.S.S.) as Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development.

He will also oversee marketing, licensing, events, communications and membership at the organisation behind the Bassmaster Classic.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phillip previously and look forward to the strong work ethic, strategic vision and leadership he will bring to supporting our members, sponsors and associates,” said B.A.S.S. CEO Chase Anderson.  “He will strengthen our processes and expand the Bassmaster brand.”

Johnson has spent 25 years in sales and operations management, client relations, strategic planning and growing new markets. Most recently, he was a Walmart account executive in charge of the huge Special Projects Division.

“I look forward to the launch of a successful 2023 tournament season and expanding the brand through strategic partnerships and evolving opportunities that create value for everyone associated with B.A.S.S.,” he said.
