Share

The first two events in the six-strong US series of The Fly Fishing Show begin this month, the first at Marlborough, Massachusetts, from January 20th to 23rd, and the second in Edison, New Jersey, from January 27th to 29th.

Manufacturers, retailers and independent craftsmen will feature everything from rods and reels to apparel, accessories and worldwide vacation lodges at Marlborough’s Royal Plaza Trade Center.

There will also be daily fly-casting demonstrations by Nick Conklin, Jeff Currier, Ed Lombardo, Gary Borger and Landon Mayer, plus Tenkara with Luong Tam, along with 22 classes offering expert tuition.

Other highlights include $30,000 worth of door prizes, including a week’s fishing at Tarpon Caye Lodge in Belize and SET’s Spring Creek Lodge in Northern Patagionia, four days at Swains Cay Lodge, Bahamas, and two days at the Big Land Lodge, Labrador.

The Edison show, at the Edison Convention Center, has a similarly packed format to Marlborough, including new products, seminars, classes, fly tying and fly casting demonstrations, theatre presentations, fishing art, lodges and vacation destinations.

Classes include An Introduction to Fly Fishing with Sheila Hassan, Nymph Fishing with Jason Randall, Casting Mechanics with Dusty Wissmath and Reading the Water with Alice Owsley. There are also 18 free seminars daily, while featured fly tiers include Thomas Baltz, Jake Villwock, Tim Cammisa, Jonny King and Joe Cordeiro.

As in Marlborough, Edison will offer more than £30,000 in door prizes, including a mouthwatering selection of breaks in some of the world’s best lodge.
