One of Europe’s biggest and best known sea fishing shows – due to resume next year – has been cancelled with its future now in doubt.
The Salon de la Pêche en Mer was expected to take place in Nantes, France in March, but an announcement on its Facebook page yesterday (Wednesday) has confirmed its cancellation – not postponement. The statement said that the current conditions are not suitable for the organisation of a quality show for either exhibitors or visitors.

The French magazine, La Peche et Les Poissons, reported that according to its information there were a number of specific reasons for the decision, including ‘overpriced’ stands, declining attendances, the decision by exhibitors to change their methods of communication and its focus on water sports.
“The last show in 2020 had disappointed,” reported the magazine. “It will be necessary to rethink it in depth if there is to be a return.”
