Future of Rive could be decided in weeks

Share

The future of French tackle box maker Rive could be decided in the next few weeks, following reports that the company has filed for bankruptcy.

A number of Angling International’s industry contacts in Europe have substantiated that the 35-year-old business is on the brink of closure or could be taken over.

Reports suggest that Rive’s Chinese owner and manufacturer is no longer providing funding for the once-prominent brand and that stock has been run down.

Rive was once an influential player in the seat box sector, and has manufactured seat boxes for UK brand Guru since 2017. It was particularly strong in competition fishing and in 2013 the company attempted to leverage the brand by including rods, nets, clothing, luggage and accessories in its catalogue, but business appears to have diminished in recent years.

At the time of writing, Angling International could not contact a Rive representative. Rumours that the company may be taken over by a UK brand cannot be confirmed. The Rive website was a still live at the time of writing.
