Pure Fishing – the world’s largest supplier of tackle – was the big winner in the first-ever digital EFTTEX Awards.

The company and its brands won eight awards in all with PENN taking three and Plano two. PENN’s successful entries included The Authority and the Fathom II Lever Drag reels and the Tidal Surfcasting coastal rod. The Authority was a winner at the ICAST show in the US earlier this year.

Shimano also had a competition to remember, winning five awards for the Aero Technium MgS, Aldebaran BFS and Stella FK reels, Sustain spinning rod and Bantam World Minnow Flashboost hard lure.

Mustad and its recently acquired US lure brand, LIVETARGET, were both winners in the awards, with the Norwegian giant winning the Spinning and Baitcasting Terminal Tackle category with its JawLok Inline treble hooks and LIVETARGET winning the Spinning and Baitcasting Soft Lure with its Ultimate Frog.

Mustad’s Eddie Payton, said: “This is just what we wanted to achieve and we are very happy. LIVETARGET is a proven award-winner and it was great to see it follow-up its success at ICAST when the Live Shrimp won the Saltwater Hard lure. It shows that since its acquisition by Mustad, the brand has continued to introduce innovative products that are part of its DNA.

“With predator fishing so popular in Europe we are pumped up to introduce it to anglers over here.

“Mustad’s bread and butter is its hooks and we are delighted to be recognised as an innovator in the sector with the JawLok Inline treble hooks.”

Another double winner was UK fly fishing brand, Snowbee, which won two awards for its Prestige rods – the G-XS Saltwater and the G-XS Switch rod. Company Managing Director Russell Weston described himself as ‘well chuffed’. “The Prestige G-XS rods are our first foray into graphene and they have been spectacularly successful, becoming our best selling rods ever.

“They saw us enter a new price-point and the rods have been endorsed not once, but twice. That is the icing on the cake.”

US rod component maker American Tackle picked up its 11th industry award when the SGR (Shrink Ready Grip) System was named the winner in the Accessory category. Kevin Landers, the Florida-based company’s Marketing Manager, said: “We are extremely proud to be recognised for our innovation in the rod component sector. We strive to be the best in the world at what we do and 11 industry awards are testament to that.”

Newcomer to the EFTTEX awards, Elyman Iberica, enjoyed success with the Jinkai Slow boat rod much to the delight of the company’s Andres Orts Perez. “This is just reward for many years of hard work and could not have been more timely as we look to extend our market reach across Europe and beyond.”
