The Marksman range of coarse fishing rods that went out of production when Pure Fishing decided to make Hardy a game only brand is back – but in a different guise.
The top-end Marksman rods were designed by well-known UK angler, Dave Coster, but his connection with Hardy ended when he moved south to Grantham, Lincolnshire.
However, demand for the rods continued, often changing hands for more than the original retail price. So when online tackle company, Thomas Turner, could not get enough of them, it asked Coster to create a new range.
The company – full name Thomas Turner Antique Fishing Tackle – commissioned a series that retains the traditional look of the original, but incorporates the latest nano-carbon technology. Aesthetics include a plush green finish, top grade cork handles and whippings tipped with gold.
With the Marksman name unavailable, the selection of float, quiver tip and Avon-style rods is called the Thomas Turner Classic+ range.
Establish in 1838, Thomas Turner is the oldest supplier of antique, vintage and modern classic fishing tackle in the world.
