Hall of fame honour for Hardy Fly Fishing ambassador

Share

Hardy Fly Fishing ambassador, Olympian, instructor, broadcaster and author Andy Mill is to be inducted into The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust Hall of Fame.

Mill retired from downhill ski racing in 1981 to become an authority on tarpon fishing and conservation, going on to write the award-winning book, A Passion for Tarpon, widely considered the most concise and complete work on tarpon angling.

He hosted the acclaimed series Sportsman’s Journal with Andy Mill before curating the Mill Podcast with his son, Nicky.

As a competitor, Mill has won more invitational fly tarpon tournaments than anyone, and is the only angler to win tarpon, bonefish and permit tournaments on the fly.

“Andy is the epitome of what a saltwater tournament angler should be,” said Jim Murphy, Director of Fly Fishing for Hardy. “He is an avid conservationist who loves to fish and protect the species he loves.

“He is not only an excellent angler, but also a passionate speaker who engages his audience and encourages them through his actions to get involved and make a difference.

“We are proud to have him as a Hardy ambassador and that he is being recognised with such a prestigious award.”

Mill will be inducted at the Florida Keys History & Discovery Centre in Islamorada, on October 6th.
