New man in charge of daily running of Big Rock Sports

There’s a new man in day-to-day charge at Big Rock Sports, one of the biggest fishing tackle wholesalers in the US.

David McCartney (pictured) has been appointed President and assumes responsibility for managing the outdoor sporting goods business. He will join the executive team at Big Rock’s office in Graham, North Carolina, where he will report to CEO Ed Small.

McCartney has 30 years of experience in warehouse operations, pricing, supply chain and inventory management and has worked in retailing and wholesale distribution, serving thousands of small, independent retailers.

The vast majority of his career has been with General Parts Inc., now Advanced Auto Parts, where he was President of the Carquest Division.

“David’s extensive knowledge of distribution and his experience serving small, family-owned businesses will be a tremendous asset that will help us continue providing best-in-class product assortments and service to our family of retailers,” said Ed Small.

Big Rock Sports, founded in 1955, supplies more than 15,000 angling, hunting and other outdoor retailers with products from over 1,200 manufacturers. It carries freshwater, saltwater and ice fishing gear.
