JRC unveils first-ever line-up of carp reels – with a little help from PENN

Share

The first-ever line-up of reels from JRC has been unveiled at the Pure Fishing EMEA Sales Meeting in the Czech Republic.

The brand team at JRC say they have taken advantage of the technological expertise of Pure Fishing sister brand PENN to deliver three reels that ‘fulfil the needs of every carp angler’. The top of the range XTX (above) is a Big Pit monster, the Defender (DR) delivers for mid to long distance fishing and the RV is a perfect stalking reel and ideal partner for JRC’s ROVA rods.

Angling International spoke exclusively to the creator of the range, Paul De Wal, at the Sales Meeting in Prague. De Wal (pictured with the reels) explained that the XTX is the perfect long cast reel. He said that the graphite body, in combination with the machined, braid-ready aluminium spool result in a ‘lightweight yet reliable piece of gear’. Its three sizes will retail between €120 and €140.

The RV is a compact and lightweight offering that is perfect for stalking carp. It has a balanced rotor design for optimal line-lay, aluminium spool and handle and double mono/braid-friendly line clips. It will retail at €60.

The DR is a strong and reliable reel with an accurate free spool system. It is built with a strong graphite body and rotor, aluminium spool and zinc alloy inner parts. It is available in two sizes – 8,000 and 10,000 – which makes it perfect for fishing mid to long range. They will retail at €70 and €75.
