Rod maker St. Croix has promoted Alex Smay from North East Regional Account Manager to Regional Sales Manager.
Smay joined the Wisconsin company in 2017 after nine years with a large sporting goods retailer, where he worked in customer service, sales and marketing. At St. Croix he has been covering accounts in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
In his new role he will go from managing sales to some 170 independent retailers to leading a team of reps across 14 eastern states and Canada, as well as a few key accounts outside of those territories.
“St. Croix continues to grow because we never stop listening to and responding to the needs of anglers,” said Vice President of Sales Steve Self. “Our retail partners are a primary conduit for much of this critical angler feedback, so the relationships our sales team members have with those partners are very important.
“Alex has proven himself over the past four-and-a-half years and firmly understands what it takes to advance St. Croix’s mission of improving the fishing experience for all anglers.”
Smay said he has a strong desire to see more independent retailers thrive and grow with St. Croix.
St. Croix has chosen its rep group in the South East and TALO states, Dunkin Lewis, to take over responsibility for sales in Smay’s old territory.
