One of the best known and oldest line brands in the world – Cortland – continued its support of grassroots angling with the sponsorship of the 19th World Youth Fly Fishing Championships in Trentino, Italy.

Teams from Italy, Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Ireland, South Africa, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland and the US took part in the event, with Spain (below) taking the honours. Second place went to the Czech Republic with France third.

The Individual winner was Carlos Delgado, of Spain, closely followed by his team-mate, Sergio Heredero, with Jann Witner of the Czech Republic third.

Cortland’s Simon Jefferies said “We are extremely pleased to be sponsoring the future of our sport. I would like to congratulate the winners and all the other competitors who represented their countries with pride and showed great sportsmanship at all times”

Mario Podmanik, FIPS-Mouche President, said: “Our Federation is delighted that after a two year break we can run our events again and especially in the youth category which is so crucial to the future of our sport.

“Moreover, we are pleased that our global partner, Cortland, has continued to sponsor the youth championships since 2016 – with the main aim to reduce the participation fee and make it easier for young competitors all over the world to take part. We highly appreciate this support.
