Stealth Stixx crowned best Microwave rod at ICAST

Share

The 7ft3ins Booty Rod from Stealth Stixx was voted the Best New Microwave Rod on show at last month’s ICAST trade show.

Stealth Stixx is a proud member of the American Tackle Wave Army Brands and worked on designing a more sensitive and carbon-based rod. Featuring the MicroWave Line Control System, it incorporates woven 3K carbon twill material into the blank while utilising the same material in the carbon fibre split grip handle design.

Bryan Jordan, tournament angler and rod designer for Stealth Stixx, said: “It is an honour to win. We were up against some big names, and it was awesome to see Joe (American Tackle President) walk up with the award and let us know we had won!” Bryan has been designing and building technique-specific rods for over three decades. He was joined by his partner, Randy McAbee, a champion big swim bait master in California who designs and consults for many of the most notable brands in the industry.

“This contest has been a staple at shows for American Tackle in both the trade and custom rod divisions for years and helps show how popular the MicroWave Line Control System is,” said Kevin Landers, Marketing Manager at American Tackle. “Everyone who attended could vote and did, with hundreds of votes being counted to select the winner this year.” With the increase in attendance, this year’s People’s Choice Best MicroWave Rod was the biggest and the closest in years.

The Wave Army consists of rod brand and angler enthusiasts of the MicroWave Line Control System. The Wave Army has been around since the debut of the MicroWave Line Control System and has been growing every year. Over a dozen brands are members of the Wave Army, with more rod builders now using it on everything from bass casting to surf rods.
