Rex Nelson, former longtime CEO of Western Filament, has joined KastKing as Director of Product Development for Fishing Line.
The appointment comes as KastKing, a subsidiary of Eposeidon Inc., prepares to expand its fishing line range.
Nelson, who has spent more than 30 years in fishing line manufacturing with the TUF-Line brand, will focus on developing new lines under the KastKing brand and growing market share, as well as helping solidify the current supply chain.
“The entire product range of braided line, fluorocarbon, monofilament and fly lines is an excellent fit within the scope of my industry experience” says Nelson, who highlighted the brand’s entire assortment at ICAST last week.
“I will concentrate on KastKing’s existing brand identity and further development of new products”.
KastKing began as an e-commerce business selling line direct to consumers from its base in Garden City, Long Island, New York, and line remains a core focus.
“We are committed to being top of mind for today’s angler in terms of quality, performance, value and technology in the fishing line category,” said Al Noraker, KastKing’s VP of Business Development. “It is with that in mind that we have hired one of the industry’s most knowledgeable experts in the manufacturing and development of fishing line.
“His only focus will be to ensure that KastKing has the most complete, highest quality and newest technology advancements in this segment. We have a high level of confidence in Rex’s ability which gives us soaring expectations for our future as a leader in this segment.”
Nelson spent 30 years with Western Filament, before he retired as President last year.
Eposeidon also owns the Extremus and MadBite brands and supplies rods, reels, line and tackle accessories worldwide.
