US fishing bag and accessories supplier on the brink of closure

Vermont bag and accessories supplier, Finn Utility, will be closing its doors unless a rescue package can be agreed in the near future.
“The last seven years has been a great trip,” said Ryan McDonald (right of picture), who founded the business in Richmond and ran it with his partner Jake Sienkiewycz (left). “We loved every minute, learned so much about all things and left a little mark on the sport we love.
“Finn is still relevant as a brand and the stories are endless, but to be completely honest we need capital to outsource the manufacturing. Currently we are entertaining offers regarding sale or investment/equity deals to continue the adventure.
“We thank everyone for their support. You let us live a dream.”
Finn created its own niche in the fly market in a former post office on the banks of the Winooski River, using natural materials and traditional sewing techniques to make heirloom products including bags, reel holders and fly wallets.
“Having electricity and a river within walking distance were the only criteria,” he told Angling international in an interview in 2020. “The evening hatch drifts into the studio and helps with fly selection.”
