Can you ever ignore Daiwa at ICAST when it comes to reels? The answer is a short, sharp no.

Leading the way when the show’s doors open on Wednesday is the brand’s new saltwater Free Swimmer model, which is a spinning reel for live-lining for big fish. Described by Marketing Manager Marc Mills as ‘the new king in its class’, the Free Swimmer makes it easy to cast a live-bait away from the boat and to moderate the speed at which it swims.

Daiwa was voted top in both reel categories in last year’s ICAST New Product Showcase. Will this put them back on the podium?

Look out for… an automatic Bite N’Run clutch that instantly disengages the spool so line can peel off with little resistance when the bail is closed.
