GSM Outdoors adds two lure brands to portfolio


GSM Outdoors has continued to build up its presence in the US fishing sector with the acquisition of two renowned lure brands.

The outdoor leisure goods supplier has acquired Buckeye Lures (pictured left), synonymous with the Spot Remover jig, and SteelShad Lures (right), renowned for its versatile offering of baits which has earned a reputation for being a ‘staple’ in the tackle box of both tournament and recreational anglers.

Crispin Powley, Vice President of Fishing at GSM Outdoors, said: “Buckeye Lures is an awesome brand that has been established throughout the industry for years as one built by anglers for anglers. We are excited to carry on that tradition with the resources that we have at GSM behind it. We already have some innovative products in development that we are certain will be valuable in every angler‘s arsenal.”

Eddie Castro, President and CEO of GSM Outdoors, added: “Buckeye Lures was identified early on as a brand that fits our culture. We have targeted legitimate fishing brands that have a history of proven products and Buckeye is just that. Our team has a strong plan in place to innovate Buckeye and bring even more value to the angler and the marketplace.”

Of SteelShad Lures, Powley said: “We are elated to add SteelShad to our growing portfolio of fishing brands. Its products are proven to be effective across a multitude of scenarios, environments and fish species. We are excited to apply our development capabilities and market knowledge to this brand and expand its already-successful line-up into some new and modern avenues.”
