American Tackle bolsters Ambassador Team with Mary Christy appointment

Award-winning rod components supplier, American Tackle, has bolstered its Brand Ambassador Team with the appointment of Mary Christy.

The Florida-based company’s Marketing Manager, Kevin Landers, said: “Mary is such an amazing fit for what the American Tackle Company stands for. Her rod building knowledge and ability to teach others this amazing craft is something that we are excited about.”

Since starting in 2011, Christy has built hundreds of rods – mostly for surf, pier and offshore fishing, but also occasionally custom rods for freshwater.

In 2015, along with her husband, Wes, Christy started the Facebook group, The Southern Rod Builders, to provide educational information through gatherings, daily Q&A tutorials and live videos.

Christy launched the Women’s Rod Building Alliance group in 2021 in a bid to get more females into the activity. She said that she is looking forward to the future possibilities of being able to teach the community, build one-of-a-kind custom rods and also continue delivering ‘all things decorative’ in the rod building world.

Landers added: “We are excited to be part of Mary’s teaching journey and show off her amazing work.”
