Another manufacturer in US boating sector announces an expansion
Fishing boat manufacturer Sportsman Boats is investing $8 million in its South Carolina location, creating 75 jobs in the process.
The expansion plans include a 75,000 square feet building to accommodate the manufacture of small fibreglass parts, plus new parking for the the company’s fleet and employee vehicles.
“Our organisation has grown tremendously since 2012,” said Sportsman Boats President Tommy Hancock. “A big part of that success has been made possible by the support of Dorchester County and the world-class labour force available in this area. We have a great future ahead of us for our brand, our family of employees and our manufacturing facility. Our expansion sets that plan in motion and further solidifies our future.”
Based is Summerville, Sportsman Boats makes centre consoles for saltwater fishing boats. The expansion is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of this year.
