Shimano Europe renews WCC sponsorship

Share

Shimano Europe – the first sponsor of the World Carp Classic (WCC) – has renewed its backing of event.

The company’s association with the longest running carp angling event in the world has been extended as it celebrates its 24th year and Shimano acknowledges the 20th anniversary of its Tribal carp fishing brand.

Jan Jaap Hiemstra, of Shimano Europe, said: “When we partnered with the WCC for the first time in 1998, no-one knew what the future would bring. Now, nearly 25 years later, Shimano is celebrating its carp brand’s 20th anniversary and is back at the WCC as a global event.

“You could say that the circle is closed. A beautiful journey in which both Shimano and the WCC organisations never lost the connection. We are looking forward to celebrating many more bright moments together in the future.”

Ross Honey, founder of the WCC, added: “I am really pleased to welcome Shimano back as a global event partner at this special and important time. It is phenomenal to see how far the development of carp angling has come over the last 24 years and nobody would question that Shimano is a global leader in this.

“Our new, long-term agreement is a great demonstration on behalf of both the WCC and Shimano to continue to drive and develop exciting world class opportunities for the carp angling world into the future.”

This year’s WCC takes place at Lac de Madine, France, from September 26th to October 1st.
