A new man will now be deciding Daiwa’s marketing direction in the North and South American markets.
Marc Mills, who has spent his whole working life in the fishing industry, has been promoted from Marketing Field Representative to Senior Marketing Manager.
“Mark (pictured) has been in the industry basically since he could walk,” said Daiwa President, Carey Graves. “He started off at Dana Wharf Sportfishing working the boats and then managed their retail operations.
“After that he gravitated to working for some of the most influential manufacturers and rep groups within the industry. He has become not just a leader within Daiwa, but one of the most influential spokesmen/marketers within the entire trade.”
Mills, who will manage the Daiwa marketing team in the areas of traditional, digital and field marketing, said becoming senior marketing manager of a global fishing company was “the accomplishment of a dream.”
The role was previously occupied by Curt Arawaka, who is going into semi-retirement but will help transition Mills into his new position. “I’ll still be around for three days a week. When you get older sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses.
“I want to slow down a bit and enjoy some the things I love about this industry, namely fishing itself.”
