ASA strengthens communications team with new hire

Share

The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) has strengthened its communications team with the appointment of John Chambers as Public Affairs Manager.

He will support the Association’s strategic priorities, including building the sportfishing community, reinforcing communication efforts and increasing engagement.

The new position is pivotal to expanding the ASA’s advocacy efforts with policy leaders and members of Congress, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of fisheries issues, says the Association.

Chambers is well equipped for the role, having spent three years on Capitol Hill working for Senator Kelly Ayotte on issues including fisheries, energy, the environment and transportation.

He also spent three years at D.C.-based PLUS Communications developing and implementing public affairs projects, as well as working on research projects for political candidates and campaigns.

“John will help us enhance and amplify the Association’s government affairs work,” said Vice President of Communications, Mary Beth Long. “He has the background, ideas and enthusiasm to help us garner critical support among policy makers, media and influencers.”

Chambers is based in the ASA’s headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.
