Councils in New South Wales, Australia, have been invited to apply for $2.1 million in grants under the Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities programme.
The scheme will provide money to local government for the purpose of new or renewed boat ramps, fish cleaning stations, jetties, toilet blocks, marine rescue facilities, camping facilities and other infrastructure or facilities directly associated with recreational fishing, boating or camping.
The funding will come from the NSW Nationals in the federal government and will be administered by the NSW Nationals in the state government.
“After a tough two years for the Australian tourism industry, this programme will see improved infrastructure delivered across NSW to help attract more tourists to our best fishing and outdoor destinations,” said Adam Marshall, National Minister for Agriculture and Western NSW. “The improvements will help bolster the recreational fishing industry, which already does so much for the state, including injecting $3.4 billion into the economy each year.”
There will be two tiers of grants, for projects below and above $50,000. Applications are open now and close on January 31st, 2022.
