GO Outdoors to add 30 Fishing Republic outlets into its stores

Share

The renaissance of Fishing Republic – once one of the UK’s major tackle retailers – is set to continue next year.

It has been revealed that it will be installed in a further 30 of the JD Sports-owned GO Outdoors outlets in 2022. Already present in 21, Fishing Republic was bought by the group for £1 and rescued from administration back in January 2019.

The news of its move into more GO Outdoors stores was revealed by Partnership Accounts Manager Marie Stewart as it was announced that the GO Outdoors and Fishing Republic had become the latest Retail Associate members of the Angling Trust, the representative body of anglers in the UK.

Stewart said: “We are delighted to be partnered with the Angling Trust and aim to support it in any way we can so that it can continue to carry out the invaluable work it does for the angling industry and fishermen across the country. We are particularly keen to back both its Anglers Against Pollution campaign and its work to introduce more people to fishing, especially at a time when protection of the environment is more important than ever.”

As part of the agreement, GO Outdoors and Fishing Republic, which has three stand-alone stores in England, are offering Angling Trust members a 10% discount on items instore and online.

John Cheyne, the Angling Trust’s Head of Marketing, Communications and Membership, said: “GO Outdoors is a destination shopping experience that almost every family in the country will visit at one time or another. The fact that it is expanding its angling offering is brilliant news for our sport and another example of how fishing is growing in popularity.

“We are delighted to welcome GO Outdoors and Fishing Republic on board as Angling Trust members and look forward to working with them in the future.”
