G. Loomis ICAST winner voted best saltwater rod of 2022

Share

A new fly rod from G. Loomis has been named best saltwater rod for 2022 by a leading fly fishing magazine – just a few months after it won a best in category award at the ICAST trade show.

The brand’s NRX+ T2S received this latest recognition from Fly Fisherman magazine’s Gear Guide, which praised the rod’s range of casting.

“Micro-tapers close to the tip help the rod load quickly for casts close to the boat, but it’s also got incredible reserve energy in the butt section for driving long casts into the wind,” said the magazine’s editors. “The Dynamic Recovery Technology from G. Loomis basically increases the effective top and bottom ranges of the rod – it’s like going from a cassette tape to digital audio.”

Fly Fisherman’s reviewers also noted that: “One-piece rods have been popular choices in saltwater tournaments for years, but they are difficult to transport. The ‘tournament configuration’ of the NRX+ T2S means that it has a 22-inch butt section and an 86¾inch tip section for a total length of 8ft 10ins. It’s still a long rod tube, but more in the realm of skis and golf clubs, and much more economical and sensible for shipping, checking-in luggage or fitting into a car.”

The NRX+ T2S series includes five rods with line ratings of 8-weight to 12-weight to provide versatility across the spectrum of saltwater species. Each rod is made in the G. Loomis factory in Woodland, Washington.

“The new NRX+ T2S is tangible proof of our commitment to push rod building forward in technology, innovation and design,” said Red Kulper, Fly Fishing Brand Manager at G. Loomis.
