Fishing’s Future

UK’s Take a Friend Fishing initiative is back

Share

The UK’s Take a Friend Fishing campaign (TAFF), which gives people the chance to fish on a free licence, is back.

Following its success earlier this year, the scheme will return between December 17th and January 2nd inclusive in a bid to introduce more people to fishing. Existing fishing licence holders can register now for a free one-day licence from the Environment Agency worth £6 to take someone they know fishing. Anyone wishing to book in advance can visit here to register for the free licence.

TAFF was founded by the Angling Trades Association (ATA) and is now operated in partnership with the Environment Agency and the Angling Trust. More than 6,000 people have taken part in the scheme over the past two years.

“The Take a Friend Fishing programme speaks volumes about the level of stakeholder commitment to the growth of the industry,” said ATA Chairman Andrew Race.

“The ATA and its partners are fully committed to the growth of angling and the health benefits it brings. And a day out fishing is the ideal gift for a friend or family member. Angling doesn’t cost the earth, improves mental health and connects people to the environment at a time when awareness is paramount.”
