JD Sports expands presence in mainland Europe

JD Sports Fashion, the owner of one of the UK’s major suppliers of fishing tackle, has expanded its presence in mainland Europe with the acquisition of a Crete-based sporting goods retailer.

The parent company of GO Outdoors and Fishing Republic has purchased 80% of Cosmos Sport S.A., which operates 57 stores in Greece and three in Cyprus under a variety of retail banners and associated trading websites. In the year ended December 31st 2020, it generated revenues of approximately €52 million.
