The body that represents the recreational fishing industry in the US has joined the battle against invasive species.
The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) has announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Wildlife Forever and its Clean Drain Dry initiative to combat a problem that costs the US billions of dollars every year to prevent, manage and mitigate.
“Since 1993, the ASA has been a leader in fisheries conservation. Working with the national Clean Drain Dry campaign reaffirms our commitment to both the resource and our members by integrating programmes that educate our customers. Together we are safeguarding our fisheries for future generations,” said ASA President Glenn Hughes.
The Wildlife Forever Clean Drain Dry initiative is a national campaign devised to educate outdoor recreational users how to prevent the spread of invasive species.
“I am proud that the ASA joined the movement by taking an active role in invasive species prevention. Our partnership will leverage marketing and communication tools that empower best conservation practices to educate anglers, protecting the sport and resource,” said Pat Conzemius, President and CEO of Wildlife Forever.
