Faber Brothers, Maurice Sporting Goods, Little Lindy Joe and Vexilar all featured in the career of Dan Marking, the industry veteran who has just retired after 35 years in the business.
Marking was a road salesman for Faber in North Minnesota for 11 years, working with the legendary Wayne Kozlowski, before spending four years with Maurice Sporting Goods.
He then became Regional Sales Manager for Lindy before the PRADCO buy-out in 2009. A year later he was hired by Jim Burkett, owner of the PMI Rep Group, to be its agent in Minnesota for ice fishing brands, Vexilar and K Drill.
His best job? “My time at Lindy was the best 11 years of my life,” says Marking. “Lindy was always on the cutting edge of introducing new and innovative products, not the me-too versions so many companies do these days.”
Marking, an avid angler, has registered 550 muskies with Muskies Inc. and will now spend more time in pursuit of his favourite species.
