Cooler company YETI has launched an industry first for online shoppers that allows them to view products in 3D in the environment of their choice.
The company’s customers can examine more than 50 virtual products from every angle – indoors or out – to get a sense of dimension, construction and material durability. Following a collaboration with Vertebrae, a technology company specialising in 3D and augmented reality (AR) solutions for retail, YETI has added visualisations for its signature hard coolers to its product page to help shoppers research and purchase products.
Shoppers can zoom in for a close-up examination to help with their buying decisions. YETI is also introducing the new tool to its recently launched bag collection that includes backpacks, soft luggage and duffels only available on yeti.com.
“More than half of all consumers are willing to use AR for shopping, more than any other emerging tech, including retail self-checkout,” said Vince Cacace, founder and CEO of Vertebrae. “And 76% of those who have tried AR say that the tech has increased their confidence to purchase online. YETI saw the opportunity to break new ground by bringing this to a new category.”
