Grundéns shifts apparel packaging to compostable materials


Grundéns has shifted all of its apparel product packaging away from polybags to compostable materials as it works towards a more sustainable footprint.

Talking of the company’s commitment to fishing and healthy environments, CEO David Mellon said that sustainability is a key element of the brand’s business model. “Without sustainable fisheries there are no fish and there is no Grundens,” he said. “We get that and understand the impacts. Experts estimate that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Shifting to compostable packaging is a great move and removes close to a million polybags from the waste stream that could end up in waterways or oceans.”
