Middle East export push delivers six distributors for Sea Falcon

Share

A plan to target the Middle East as a potential export market has paid off for Japanese lure brand Sea Falcon.

So far this year it has signed no fewer than six distribution deals in the region. The company’s International Sales Manager, Martin Bakos, told Angling International that it had established new partnerships in Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Algeria and Egypt.

He said: “We have been targeting the region specifically because our product range is very applicable to local fishing. Many of these markets belong to some of the most prominent saltwater fisheries in the world and with a strong emphasis on jigging. It was the perfect fit for the first stage of our global expansion.”

He added that Sea Falcon sees room for growth in the region. “Entry to the market is the first step. We do not plan to just sell products, but will work with the local distributors on building a dedicated range of lures for the region. Jigging is a growing method of fishing in the Middle East and anglers are slowly discovering its effectiveness.”

Products that Bakos believes will be a hit include its iconic Cutlassfish and Real Mackerel casting jigs alongside its legendary Z-Slow (pictured), one of the original slow pitch models that continues to grow in many new markets because of its effectiveness. “The Middle East markets have a hunger for new products, but they cannot be just anything. Distributors and anglers are looking for quality products to suit their style of fishing and Sea Falcon fits the bill.”
