Sportfish annual game and fly show to go virtual next month

Sportfish is producing its annual show in virtual format this year. In line with many other events around the world, the UK company has elected to move from an in-person event to a digital presentation in view of the lingering COVID-19 pandemic.
It will take place on the Sportfish Facebook and YouTube channels on April 17 and 18 and will include new gear reviews from brands including Simms, Hardy, Vision, RIO Products, Scott, Guideline and Sage.
“Despite the sadness of not being able to host the UK’s greatest game fishing show in person, we are delighted to bring the event safely and directly to peoples’ homes,” said the company, which has been supplying game and fly fishing tackle for more than 30 years.
Demonstrations and interactive sessions will be streamed from the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre in Reading, Berkshire, along with talks from angling celebrities, fly tying exhibitions and lessons, clinics, entomology, competitions and special offers for attendees.
Anglers and fly tiers featured in the show include current World Fly Fishing Champion, Howard Croston, Charles Jardine, Paul Proctor, Davie McPhail, Paul Clydesdale, Scott Mackenzie, Barry Ord Clarke and Con O’Dea.
“The show is set to bring together anglers in a virtual celebration, with the hopeful return of in-person events and fishing soon,” added Sportfish.
