Lunkerhunt may be best known for its lures – not least thanks to winning two ICAST freshwater bait awards in the last four years. But the Canadian company has also used the strength of its brand to successfully diversify into other tackle categories.
In addition to its wide selection of soft and hard baits for both sea and freshwater, Lunkerhunt also produces combos, ice rods, braid and recently, tackle storage products. “The Lunkerhunt team is always looking at new and innovative products to bring to market,” says Brand Manager Ken Boyd. “With the LTS Avid tackle storage series, we see an opportunity to provide anglers with a solid solution to carrying tackle. This fits well with our product line-up and we will be continuing to look at ways to grow this range.”
Designed by the Lunkerhunt team based out of Southern Ontario, the LTS Avid series comprises the Avid Backpack, the Avid Duffel and the Avid Satchel, all with different purposes, but all sharing the same quality of design, materials and practicality to make fishing easier.
The Avid Backpack is built to handle the roughest conditions. TPE-coated waterproof fabric and heat-sealed seams provide the base for this 48-litre hauler, which also has two plastic trays and a spacious interior. Other organisational features, including two adjustable rod holders and a shoulder strap-mounted pliers holder, are designed to make fishing on-the-go easier. The feature-laden backpack also comes with a built-in carabiner, mesh water bottle holder, watertight side pocket, dry pack clip closure, bottom carry straps and Molle mesh for attaching additional gear.
The Avid Duffel is designed for anglers who like to custom-compartmentalise their tackle to suit their own needs. Based on a tackle tray system, it features an interior wall that is easily moved around to separate and organise gear in four plastic tackle trays. This 48-litre carry-all is made of a tough, water-resistant PVC-coated material and has handle and strap options for easy transit. It is also outfitted with a mesh water bottle holder, built-in carabiner slot, side pocket compartments and Molle mesh for extra gear.
Built with shore, river, stream and boat anglers in mind, the compact Avid Satchel makes mobility easy when fishing or hiking between spots. Both pockets are equipped with zipper-less, waterproof, fast-entry openings. A water-resistant PVC-coated construction makes sure gear is kept safe, secure and dry.
“We believe anglers will see the value in these bags, whether they are beginners or more experienced,” says Boyd. “Many of our team in design and product development are anglers themselves, which sets them apart in knowing what other anglers want. The team has thought out all the things that may seem little but which make a big difference. And the good news is that Lunkerhunt plans to add more products to its tackle storage line-up in the near future,” he revealed.
