Bassmaster TV host and former Classic winner, Davy Hite, is the latest big name to join forces with US brand 13 Fishing.
Hite, who was Bassmaster Angler of the Year in 1997 and 2002, will help design, fish exclusively with and promote 13 Fishing rods and reels.
He is already on the pro team at Rapala, which distributes 13 Fishing products outside the US. His pro team liaison is Dan Quinn, Field Promotions Manager for both companies.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Davy for many years and know that he brings a lot to the table,” Quinn says. “He’s literally a living legend! He brings a long list of accolades and with that comes experience, which will be invaluable in helping promotion and product development for 13 Fishing.”
Hite’s Bassmaster career highlights include eight first-place finishes, 14 Classic appearances and 45 Top 10 finishes. He left competition in 2017 to begin co-hosting Bassmaster’s Elite Series LIVE webcasts and cable TV shows. But that doesn’t mean he’s quit fishing.
“I’m fishing as much or more than I was in all my years fishing Bassmaster,” he says. “The cool thing about my new job is that fishermen will share information with me now about new products, but when I was their competitor, they weren’t so eager to do so,” Hite says.
“That’s part of how I’ve learned what a good company 13 Fishing is. It has a well-rounded line-up, from mid-range to upper-range product.”
Hite joins 13 Fishing just a week after another two-time Angler of the Year, Gerald Swindle, made the same move.
