The biggest coarse and sea fishing shows on the French calendar have been forced to pull the plug on their events this year because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite rescheduling its January show to April this year, the organiser of the Carrefour National Peche & Loisirs (Clermont Ferrand Show) have finally accepted defeat and cancelled the 2021 event. The Salon de la Pêche en Mer (Nantes Show) has suffered a similar fate, abandoning plans for its fair, which was due to take place in March.
In a ststement on Facebook, Centre France Evénements, the company behind the Clermont Ferrand Show, said: “In view of the situation and the uncertainty of being unable to maintain the event, it was unfortunately decided to cancel the 2021 edition that was scheduled for April.”
Nantes Exposition, the organiser of the sea fishing event, said: “Following the development of the health situation caused by COVID-19 in France, and after consulting with all the exhibitors and partners, we regret to announce the cancellation. The decision has serious consequences for us all, but not all the conditions are in place to make the 2021 show a full and complete success.
“The Salon de la Pêche en Mer promises you an innovative, enriched and even more attractive edition in 2022.”
