RIO extends use of SlickCast into more core fly lines

Share

Fly line brand RIO Products has extended the use of SlickCast into more of its core fly lines following an ‘utterly amazing’ response to the new coating technology.

SlickCast was launched in June last year with the promise that it will outcast and outlast everything else on the market. The US company says that laboratory tests conclusively showed that it is the most durable coating available and creates the least amount of friction ever measured on a fly line.

It was originally used in RIO’s core trout lines, but after such a positive launch will be expanded across the brand’s tropical saltwater fly lines and seasonally appropriate Spey lines. The new SlickCast saltwater lines being introduced are the Elite Flats Pro, Elite Bonefish, Elite Tarpon, Elite Permit and Elite GT. The Spey lines are the Elite Skagit Max Launch, Elite Skagit Max Power and the Elite Metered Shooting Line.

“The feedback and reception to SlickCast has been utterly, utterly amazing, with so much positive feedback from the field,” enthused Brand Manager Simon Gawesworth. “As a result we have decided to use it in more of our core lines. I have fished and tested these new SlickCast lines and am still absolutely amazed at just how slick they are and how easy they cast and shoot. It really does set a new standard for slickness and durability in fly line coatings.”

RIO is part of the Far Bank Enterprises group in Bainbridge Island, Washington State, which also includes the Sage and Redington brands.
