A recreational fishing advocate and journalist has been made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2021 New Year Honours for services to fishing and the maritime industry.
Keith Ingram has been a member of the New Zealand Recreational Fishing Council for 35 years, including 12 as president. He is a past president of the New Zealand Maritime Transport Association and contributed significantly to the Maritime Transport Act 1994.
Ingram, of Half Moon Bay, Auckland, was a field editor for Boating NZ magazine for 10 years before establishing Professional Skipper magazine 25 years ago. He was Journalist of the Year 2012 and Highly Commended Editor of the Year 2009 in the Magazine Publisher’s Awards.
He remains advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries, the Department of Conservation, Maritime New Zealand and the New Zealand Shipping and Fishing industries.
