PENN enters the fly fishing market with Battle combo
PENN has long been known as one of the industry’s premier saltwater brands, famous for enduring products like the Senator reel and the Power Stick rod.
But in all its 88 years, the Pure Fishing brand has never ventured into the fly fishing market – until now that is. PENN’S all-new Battle Fly Combo signals its the entrance into the fly fishing category with what it describes as an affordable, performance-driven package. “The Battle saltwater combo is the first fly combo offering from PENN,” said Jim Murphy, Director of Fly Fishing for Pure Fishing. “We recognised the opportunity to bring PENN’s legacy as a tackle company to the fly fishing world.
“Now anglers can fish with a rugged, ready-to-fish combo that meets the same robust standards as the brand’s traditional gear. This is a great travel rod and reel for performance-minded anglers looking for a combo for their next saltwater trip.”
The Battle saltwater combo will be available as a four-piece, medium-fast rod and in 8 and 10-rod weights for big-game fish. The reel is die cast and anodised to protect it from saltwater environments. It also features a fully-adjustable disc-drag system and an anodised, double up-lock aluminum reel seat with carbon spacer.
The combo comes in a hard rod tube rod and reel carrier, pre-spooled with looped WF floating line, backing and a tapered loop leader. The ready-to-fish setup makes this combo ideal for anglers looking for a tough and dependable saltwater-ready fly rod and reel, says PENN.
The PENN Battle saltwater combo will retail in the US at an MSRP of $249.95.
