Cheeky goes for experience as it prepares for its second decade


Young fly reel brand, Cheeky Fishing, has added valuable experience to its team with the appointment of Scott Doty as Wholesale and Custom Sales Operative.

Doty has spent the last 10 years at Korkers Footwear and before that represented brands including Sage, Ross Reels, Tibor, Redington, RIO, Buff, Fishpond and Freedom Hawk.

“We could not be more pleased to bring on Scott with all his experience and professionalism,” said Ted Upton, CEO of North Point Brands, the owner of Cheeky Fishing and Wingo Outdoors.  “He brings a long history of sales in the fishing and outdoors markets and has an excellent reputation throughout the industry.”

Doty (left) will lead the sales effort for both Cheeky Fishing and Wingo Outdoors from his home in Charlotte, NC where he lives with his wife and two sons.

“I am excited to join the North Point team and continue growing the Cheeky and Wingo brands,” said Doty. “The outstanding products and service that the team has established over the past decade is in a great position for the next decade. I’m eager to take the next steps!”

Cheeky was incorporated in 2010 and brought its first reels to market – the Mojo 425 and the Ambush 375 – the following year. It has since added new models including the Boost, Tyro, Triple Plays and Limitless lineups.
