Why Father Christmas has been invited to set world bass fishing record

Share

Pure Fishing brand, Ugly Stik, is hoping to get into the record books by organising a bass fishing tournament with a difference.

The iconic brand is behind the Ugly Stik World’s Largest Santa Claus Bass Tiurnament where every entrant has to wear a Father Christmas costume. The company is hoping to set a world record for the largest bass competition featuring anglers dressed in such a way and also raise money for the Toys for Tots charity.

“This is not only a chance to be part of history, but an opportunity to showcase the sport of fishing and encourage more people to get outside and enjoy one of America’s favourite recreational activities,” said Jon Schlosser, Ugly Stik’s Vice President of Marketing. “The holiday season is ideal for a good time brand like Ugly Stik to celebrate how much fun it is to fish, while also benefiting a fantastic charity.”

With the eyes of the world watching, an expected field of hundreds of anglers will gather for the record attempt on Saturday, December 12 on North Carolina’s Lake Norman. Anglers will also get the chance to meet some of the top Bassmaste Elite Series and Major Fishing League pros who will be on hand to share tips, sign autographs and help distribute prizes from industry leading brands that include Ugly Stik, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Humminbird, Minn Kota, Academy Sports + Outdoors, DuraSafe and Costa.
