EFTTEX 2021 venue turned into emergency hospital as Czechs battle COVID-19

The PVA Expo in the Czech Rebublic capital of Prague – due to host next year’s EFTTEX trade show – has been converted into an army field hospital as the country battles to contain the COVID-19 virus.

The nation reported over 15,250 Coronavirus cases on Friday – its highest ever daily increase – and recorded 126 deaths overnight, taking its toll to 1,971.
The PVA Expo, which had hosted a number of exhibitions when lockdown restrictions were originally eased, is expected to start accepting patients from Sunday. The role of the venue in tackling the crisis in the Czech Republic will inevitably cast a shadow over EFTTEX, which is set to take place there in June.
Already a number of international fishing tackle shows organised for next year have either been cancelled or postponed. EFTTA CEO Olivier Portrat told Angling International in an exclusive interview in our November issue that EFTTEX 2021 is ‘definitely’ going ahead.
