Anglers in Australia’s Northern Territory are currently chasing a fish that could make them a millionaire.
The annual Million Dollar Fish is a competition that runs from October through to March 31 and offers prizes to anglers who catch tagged barracuda – one of which is worth a cool $1million and others up to $10,000. One of the first winners of the season was Ryan Burdon (pictured above), the son of Colin and Karen, the owners of Reidy’s Lures, which recently acquired Schneider Fishing Line. He won $10,000 for a 98cm barra he caught while fishing off his parents’ boat. The fish had three tags including one that was worth $10,000 for him and $5,000 for a fishing friend. Ryan was visiting his parents from Queensland with his family and fished a billabong that is known for crocodiles and barracuda. He was using a Reidy’s Fish Snakz lure and, of course, Schneider line.
